Egyptian goodbyes are more than one fixed phrase. “Ma3a el salama” is the everyday goodbye, “salamtak” sends someone off with care, and “teroo7 w teegy bel salama” is a warm wish for a safe trip. When someone returns, “hamdella 3al salama” welcomes them back.

وداع يومي معناه «روح بالسلامة»، وبتتقال وإنت ماشي من بيت أو مكالمة أو قعدة.
Example: يلا يا جماعة، مع السلامة ونشوفكم بكرة.
A caring send-off or check-in after someone has had a rough moment.
كلمة مواساة لحد اتعور أو تعب، كأنك بتقول له سلامتك وألف سلامة عليك.
Example: سلامتك يا صاحبي، إيدك لسه بتوجعك؟
A warm wish for someone heading away: go and come back safely.
دعوة لطيفة لحد مسافر أو خارج مشوار، معناها روح وارجع بالسلامة.
Example: تروح وتيجي بالسلامة، ابقى طمّنا.
A welcome for someone back from a trip or absence, not a literal goodbye.
بنقولها لحد رجع من سفر أو خفّ أو عدّى موقف بسلام؛ ترحيب واطمئنان في جملة واحدة.
